Responsibilities

  • Plans, executes and reviews complex 2-D, 3-D and MicroStation generated drawings,
  • Prepares an index of drawings for each set of plans and reports
  • Coordinates with the engineer and/or geologist responsible for the project on the intent of the various aspects of the project to ensure that final drawings meet the design needs of the project.
  • Reviews drawings that integrate plans from several disciplinary areas to ensure completeness and consistency.
  • Utilizes GIS databases and software to create surface maps and two- and three-dimensional surface models and maps. Prints and plots maps and models.
  • Guides, assists, and instructs others in the use of GIS oriented software, including ArcView, Google Earth, and Bentley MicroStation products to prepare maps, models, and plots.
  • Utilizes the full complement of MicroStation, CADD applications, and other CADD software to provide technical design assistance and drawing production as well as guidance and instruction in the use of this software.

  • In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using surveying technology, Geographic Information System (GIS), digital orthophotography, aerial photography, computerized drafting and design (CADD) technology to support geotechnical and geologic designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
