Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Maintenance, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing engineering expertise, field troubleshooting, project management, and engineering design services.

The nature of the work is diverse, requiring strong problem solving and analytical skills, and an ability to merge theoretical knowledge with practical application. You will be encouraged to show initiative, drive, and persistence while using expertise to make a significant contribution to combined goals.

Responsibilities :

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Complete assigned work in a professional manner, including vital measurements, calculations, analyses, interpretations, reporting, and recommendations
  • Improve mechanical and maintenance systems and procedures by evaluating new technology and recommending implementation where efficient, and maintaining communications with suppliers and other operations
  • Apply understanding of reliability centered maintenance, root cause analysis, maintenance planning and scheduling, vibration analysis, lube oil analysis, infrared analysis, non-destructive testing and evaluation, Chronic Loss Reduction, and PM efficiency evaluation and improvement (FMEA process)
  • Provide project management services as required including solutions options, cost determination and control, project justification, scope definition and challenge, appropriations requisitions, and commissioning
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to Engineers in Training, Engineering Technologists, and other Maintenance staff
  • Ensure daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and standard operating procedures and advise coworkers and contractors as required
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in a Mechanical or related field
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience in Maintenance Engineering preferably in a Mining or Mill environment, or an industrial EPCM environment
  • Digital literacy and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to quickly learn technical software, such as Isograph Availability Work Bench, FEA analysis software, CMMS databases, and MS-PowerBI
  • Project work exposure is an asset
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration monitoring, NDT inspections, or tribology
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Capable of working with all levels of the organization and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate ideas and communicate needs in a concise manner
