Resident Engineer/Field Representative

STV Incorporated is seeking a Resident Engineer/Field Representative for public roadway, track and utility projects for our Transportation and Infrastructure division in our Boston, MA office. We have a thriving practice with a close-knit, team-oriented group that is growing rapidly. Due to our success, we need to continue to add resources to assist with the delivery of our current extensive backlog of work which includes of some of the larger and more complex design projects in the region. The Field Representative will monitor matters of quality, schedule, cost, and substantial conformance to contract documents and accepted procedures; assure adequate temporary traffic and pedestrian accommodations are provided by contractors; confirm conformance to municipal and state permits, standards and regulations; and serve as a liaison to municipal and state departments and agencies for work within present and future public and railroad rights-of-way.
Work is in a field setting with outdoor work required during all weather conditions.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Engineer is preferred. Experience as a Construction Inspector and/or Resident Engineer on public and/or private development roadway, railroad and utility construction projects is preferred. A 4-year degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred. A Massachusetts Professional Engineering license is preferred.
Candidates should have considerable knowledge of construction inspection, methods and materials; working knowledge of surveying and surveying methods; ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, contractors, developers, municipal and state agency staff and the public. The successful candidate must exhibit the experience and ability to analyze construction issues, identify non-conformances, evaluate construction procedures, and interface with design and construction professionals to develop solutions to unforeseen problems. Excellent technical skills, written and verbal communication skills, organization, and time management skills are required. NETTCP certification(s) desirable.
Computer skills must include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook. Experience with e-Builder preferred.
Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
