Mechanical Engineer (Huntington Station)
Compensation: $90,650.00 - $130,870.00 /year *

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Steinway family! The Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering design to support product development and improvement activities for Steinway & Sons Boston and Essex (B&E) piano lines.
Collaborate with Boston Engineering team and OEM factories to design various parts, assemblies, tools and fixtures used in Boston & Essex piano manufacturing, using CAD and other tools.
Develop complete design drawings and mechanical specifications; document and assist in specifying process operations.
Create 3D models of Boston & Essex piano parts and assemblies as well as tools and fixtures related to the making of these parts.
Be an active contributor to Boston & Essex technical/manufacturing projects of various project scopes such as analyzing string scales
Learn piano scale design and construction principles and apply to Boston & Essex designs
Develop test method for mechanically testing various piano components and sub-assemblies, e.g., pinblocks, capstans, etc.
Design and build simple electro-mechanical devices for lab use
Qualifications, education and experience:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of proven engineering experience
A strong mechanical background with woodworking, metalworking, and electronics processes
Knowledge of mechanical engineering and product development principles and practice
Fluency in use of CAD modeling tools
Excellent SolidWorks skills
Experience working in cross functional teams; strong team player
Strong project management and problem solving skills
Computer literate in MS Office products
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with a strong bias toward action and driving results
Able to multi-task effectively and to manage and meet multiple deadlines
Preferred: Piano playing ability
Strong sense of integrity
