The Director of Telehealth Program is responsible for proactively leading the growth and quality of Telehealth services. Manages technical, business, and regulatory activities in the Telehealth (TH)/Telemedicine(TM) program. Responsible for leading the development and implementation of new areas of utilization for Telehealth activities and developing business plans for new opportunities. Responsible for all activities related to the strategy and execution of Telehealth initiatives in the Certified Home Health Agency including TH/TM, patient remote monitoring and virtual visits. Implements and identifies key deliverables and resource requirements, and performance management plans to identify, track, and monitor performance metrics.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identifies, develops and implements new business initiatives and opportunities consistent with the mission and strategic direction of the Health System in collaboration with Program Manager and leadership.

2. Oversees the planning, organization, implementation and direction of Telehealth Services within the Health System, including: growth objectives, program goals, capital requirements, space allocation, and equipment requirements.

3. Ensures that appropriate resources are properly allocated to staff in order to achieve project deliverables and expectations of clients, while maintaining appropriate revenue goals and margins.

4. Oversees the development, review and distribution of devices, reports and procedures which ensure regulatory and policy compliance.

5. Develops and maintains project plans, schedules and priorities to ensure timely delivery of telehealth services.

6. Leads implementation of pilots for internal or external agencies/partnerships. Conducts device testing and pilots roll out within established time frames.

7. Fosters practices consistent with the organization s mission, vision and values; and family-centered care.

8. Collaborates with Health System clinical service lines, information technology department and Project Manager to establish and optimize coordinated operating structures.

9. Maintains up to date situational awareness of all core issues and operating data pertinent to sound decision making.

10. Develops and implements systems for documentation necessary to maintain accountability and compliance with external regulations and internal standards, and standardization within SMHCS.

11. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with internal clinical and operational areas along with external vendors/partners.

12. Develops and provides oversight to operational work flows as it relates to equipment management.

13. Prioritizes and implements future use cases for telehealth initiatives, including the development of processes and criteria for prioritization

14. Participates in System-Wide quality improvement program. Develops, manages and ensures the implementation of and adherence to departmental policies, procedures and quality activities.

15. Presents and reviews quarterly program reports and quality data to Health System leadership.

16. Develops compelling presentations for payors, regulators and advocates in collaboration with the Program Manager.

17. Participates in contract negotiations and ensures billing requirements are met for telehealth services.

18. Implements and evaluates compliance to NYS DOH regulations. Participates in preparation for accreditation and program certification surveys. Involves staff at all levels in survey compliance, particularly as it relates to Telehealth Program.

Formal education required:

Master s Degree in a healthcare related field required; Master of Science in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner preferred

Appropriate NYS license and registration based on educational achievement required

Previous experience required:
  • 3 - 5 years of Healthcare experience
  • 1 - 2 years of Telehealth experience
  • 3 5 years managerial and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Working understanding of continuous improvement principles and methods preferred (i.e. lean, six sigma, model for improvement) preferred
