About Transmission and Distribution Southern California Edison?s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE?s 5 million customer accounts. Position Overview The Standards Engineer will be the SME in the development of new standards, modification of existing standards and presentations to client organizations on new technologies related to evolving Edison Transmissions and Substation Standards to meet the requirements of Value Engineering and EPC design/build models. Typical Responsibilities: The Standards Engineer is a mid-level engineering position to support Standards on-going growth of standard development, equipment reviews, internal engineering consultations, and various engineering related activities. Provides leadership and management for the engineering and economic analysis of various technical issues. Projects are complex, multi-functional challenges that often require cross-functional teams to successfully complete. Coordinate with other T&D groups (i.e Apparatus Engineering, Substation Engineering, Protection Engineering, Transmission Engineering, etc) to develop substation standards, present proposed changes to standard development team and ultimately publish standards on a quarterly basis. Provide mentoring to Engineer 1 and Engineer 2?s as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in Engineering. Five or more years of work experience in Engineering. Five or more years? of experience working with cross-functional teams to address and solve business and engineering issues and problems. A valid Driver?s License. Desired Qualifications Interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of employees including Senior Management and Executives within SCE and/or across company boundaries 8 years of experience: Substation and Transmission and standards development. Expertise of engineering knowledge, specifically: Grounding, Power Systems, Circuit Breakers, Controls, Protection, Utility Systems, etc. Ability to gather, understand, integrate, and synthesize complex information in order to develop substation and transmission standards and proposed standard changes, make recommendations, and propose action plans. Consult with key stakeholders and maintain relationships with clients provide direction and make strategic decisions regarding changing project/product scope, policy development, implementation, and quality control. Communicate ideas and information effectively through oral presentations and written communications to diverse audiences. Experience developing and delivering technical presentation. Master?s degree in related engineering discipline. PE License. Comments This position will be based in Pomona, CA.
