About Transmission and Distribution Southern California Edison s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE s 5 million customer accounts. Position Overview This position will be in the Substation Construction and Maintenance division within Southern California Edison s (SCE s) Transmission and Distribution (T&D) organization. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Quality Control (QC) and is directly responsible for overseeing & implementing the Transformer and Oil-Filled Electrical Equipment (TOFEE) program on capital projects. As a subject matter expert the candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe compliant retirement & proper collection of fluids & gasses Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) to maximize salvage value recovery. The TOFEE QC Inspector is a key resource to preparing and implementing detailed reports on field activities, providing technical support, as well as establishing and coordinating schedules on multiple concurrent projects. This position is responsible to provide timely and effective TOFEE guidance for all substation construction projects and for achieving business unit goals and operational excellence. The successful candidate is expected to ensure that all aspects directly related to the SC&M operations activities are optimized, including: Safe work practices, TOFEE, Regulatory and Environmental compliance protocol. The position is also responsible for meeting established goals as they relate directly to the SC&M organization. Typical Responsibilities: In the field 80-90% of the time, travel throughout the entire service territory, and work independently with minimal supervision. 100% On-site pre-shipment inspection/buy-off. Ensure the TOFEE process, safety mechanisms, & documentation is adhered to for all retired electrical equipment. Direct interface with CFF, Maintenance, Contractors, Heavy Haul, Material Operations, Environmental & Westminster Combined Facility on all assigned responsibilities. Researches, interprets, and explains inspection results. Examines test/shipping documents to verify completeness and accuracy of data and resolves discrepancies with document originators. Maintains computerized document control of records management system and/or hardcopy documents to ensure compliance with all applicable and required standards. Interface with peers and management regarding daily work activities and reporting. Participates on monthly TOFEE meetings and provides valuable input. Manage multiple priorities, schedules, and last minute changes. Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment. Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 7 or more years of experience with inspecting, disassembling various substation power transformers and/or other substation apparatus. Experience of the TOFEE process and procedures. Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Driver s License. Desired Qualifications Bachelor Degree in a STEM field. Experience with environmental compliance, safe work practices, construction/ maintenance methods, techniques, tools, and equipment. Safety awareness of all substation equipment handling and decommissioning methods. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Accident Prevention Manual safety rules. Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation. Experience strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project. Comments Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. Position will require up to 80-90% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory. Relocation does not apply to this position.
