Position Overview

The Turbine Design department is seeking an experienced Turbine mechanical integrity engineer. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic product development environment for large industrial gas turbines at Siemens Energy in the Orlando FL office. The primary responsibilities are structural and dynamic integrity analyses for the design of hot gas path components. Mechanical integrity has a direct impact on gas turbine life cycle cost. Accordingly, this position has a direct impact on the competitive ability of Siemens Energy. This position is within the R&D organization of the Generation Large Rotating Equipment business unit and reports to the Turbine US Mechanical Integrity manager. 


  • Analyze and design hot gas path components (e.g. blades, vanes, ring segments) for optimization of mechanical integrity and manufacturability

  • Develop, improve, test, implement and automate advanced modeling and design tools, techniques and methods

  • Support manufacturing both initial qualification and subsequent production phases

  • Support operation and field issue resolution via design studies and root cause analyses

  • Design engine test configurations and prepare engine test specifications for hot gas path components

  • Utilize field experience to validate designs and verify tools and methods

  • Use test data and field measurements to validate and improve analytical predictions incl. but not limited to forced response, HCF utilization, alarm limits, stimulus and flutter

  • Drive, guide and support integrated product teams through technical challenges

  • Coach and mentor, guide and train less experienced engineers

  • Process, evaluate and document primary design and miscellaneous tasks and results

  • Interface with customers both internal and external 

  • Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • University degree in mechanical, aerospace or materials engineering or comparable experience

  • 8+ years of 3D modeling and mechanical integrity experience in hot gas path design incl. manufacturing and field issue support. A minimum of 16 years of experience is required for non-degreed candidates.

  • Advanced understanding of structural integrity incl. TMF, creep and coating lifing

  • Advanced understanding of aeromechanics, flutter, forced response, HCF

  • Multi-disciplinary understanding incl. aerodynamics/CFD and heat transfer


  • NX, CAD, CAE

  • Knowledge of computational methods and programming experience

  • Demonstrated detail-oriented and innovative thinking mindset

  • Must be able to succeed in a global, dynamic and virtual integrated team environment

  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, self-directed and take initiative

  • Must have exceptional inter-personal and communication skills

  • Requires 10% travel
