Responsible for all phases of product development from conception through production of RF/Microwave/MMW components (e.g. couplers, power dividers, LNA s, mixers, PA s, switches, phase shifters, attenuators, oscillators, antennas, ferrite devices, etc.) and subsystems (e.g. transceivers, frequency converters, RADAR front-ends, radiometer front-ends, LO sources, frequency synthesizers, switch matrices, arrays) built up from these components. Responsibilities may include: Bid & Proposal, project management, detailed design, and design for manufacture, testing and design production support. A high degree of flexibility is required due to the varying needs of the business, specific needs of the project, and along the project lifecycle. Requires a high degree of creative ability, engineering skill, and independent judgment.
Duties and Responsibilities Application of advanced technical concepts, techniques, and procedures to the development of RF/Microwave/MMW products. Identifies and documentsfunctional requirementsDevelopment of RF design and specifications, analysis of alternative designs, subassembly and module design, verification testing, and peer review of RFdesignsProvide necessary documentation and technical expertise to support bid and proposal efforts including technical writing and costingContributes to complete major engineering projects or several small projects, including the efforts of Mechanical and Electrical Drafters, Technicians and otherEngineering StaffPrepare and provides formal briefings to the Staff and Project SponsorsLead technical discussions at project review sessions and in negotiations with the Project SponsorDefine and organize proposed projects into the tasks and activities needed to solve the problems being addressed. Schedule work to meet completion datesand technical specificationsRegularly provide technical guidance and oversight to Technical StaffComply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policiesComply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulationsManage engineering projects for technical performance, budget, and scheduleOther duties as required
Required Skills and Experience
Education: Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or relevant technical degree
Experience:Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience or Master s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or relevant technical degreeExperience with RF/microwave products is strongly preferred
Required:Competent in RF linear and non-linear circuit simulation using software such as AWR, Eagleware, or ADSCompetent in analog DC, AC, and transient circuit simulation using SPICE or derivativeCompetent in RF measurements and design validation proceduresExperience with 2.5D and 3D electromagnetic problems and simulation toolsSelf-motivated, reliable, and accountable individual who assumes task ownershipAbility to understand and evaluate metrics and apply process improvement measuresAbility to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
Preferred:Knowledgeable of multi-layer printed wiring boards (PWB) design and layout up to 20 GHzKnowledgeable of single-layer duroid and ceramic layout up to 40GHzKnowledgeable of chip & wire/bare die design practicesKnowledgeable of system architecture and block diagram planning of up converters and down convertersKnowledgeable of frequency planning and mixer spurious analysis for up and down convertersKnowledgeable of phase noise requirements, cascaded phase noise performance, and connection to hardware implementation methodsGeneral knowledge of the requirements for and design of microwave sources, LNAs, SSPAs, mixers, filters, and synthesizersSSPA design of at least 10W linear from C-band through Ka Band using GaN or GaAs devicesUp to 25% domestic US travel may be requiredSecurity: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
