Schuff Steel (a subsidiary of DBM Global), the largest steel fabrication & erection company in the US, is looking to hire a Construction Engineering Manager (CEM) . Critical to the needs of our Engineering Department, the CEM is responsible and accountable for producing safe, efficient, and work-wise erection procedures on projects where Schuff Steel is required to ensure the stability of the structure during their scope of work. The CEM manages deliverable schedules for multiple projects occurring in parallel and works closely with Project Management, Field Operations, and the Director of Engineering (DOE) to ensure deadlines are successfully met. The CEM is a strong technical leader who effectively mentors' other engineers who are assisting with Construction Engineering efforts.

Key Performance Objectives & Deliverables:

  • Partner with Field, Estimating, and Project teams to develop engineering solutions that are in budget and meet the scope of the project.
  • Mentor a diverse staff of engineers with effective coaching and guidance.
  • Work with Director of Engineering to schedule and plan engineering activities; provide summary reports and forecasts to Project teams.
  • Support Schuff detailing efforts by delivering necessary Construction Engineering comments and/or sketches at project kickoff or prior to start of detailing.
  • Support Field Operations by delivering engineered solutions for unanticipated site issues ASAP. Visit job sites as needed and required.
  • Create final Erection Procedure documents; drawings must be complete and accurate.
  • Required qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) to perform essential functions of role:

    Work Experience/Education/Training

    A minimum of eight (8) years related industry structural engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. MS in Structural Engineering is desirable. Must have an PE license in AZ and/or CA or equivalent state.

    Software & Technology

    Must have experience in structural modeling with at least two (2) of the following analytical software tools: RAM, SAP, ETABS, STAAD, RISA, and TEDDS.
