Senior Protection Control and Automation Engineer-0057R7

The Protection Control & Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with clients and internal Schneider Electric stakeholders to recommend and develop electrical power system Protection Control and Automation solutions. This position serves as a technical advisor, developing solutions that meet customer s needs and minimize risks. Typical responsibilities include

  • Develop Scope of Work, proposals, and estimates

  • Identify gaps or risks in the power system protection and control strategies

  • Provide technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting

  • Educate internal/external stakeholders on technical strategy

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients

  • Train/mentor team members to provide localized support services

  • Execute engineering and commissioning of advanced power system controls

  • Ensures high-quality results, delivered on-schedule, and efficiently executed within margin targets

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications


    5+ years of experienceengineering power system automation and controls

    Proficient in:

  • MS Office applications

  • Drafting tools (AutoCADElectrical preferred)

  • PLC and/ or relay programming

  • Sequence of Operations forcomplex power system control

  • AC/DC control system design

  • Schematic and one-line drawingsand panel layouts development

  • Commissioning and troubleshootingcomplex power systems

  • Developing project scope andidentifying project risks (technical, schedule, cost, change order)

    Preferred Qualifications

    Professional Engineer (PE)license
    Estimating experience
    Standards development and training experience

  • Experience with generatorprotection, paralleling, load-shedding and synchronization controls


  • Ability to quickly establishtrust of clients in a consulting role

  • Strong ethical behavior andsafety leadership

  • Excellent communication skills(verbal and written) and ability to work well with all levels in an organization

  • Excellent situationalawareness, social intelligence, listening, problem-solving skill

  • Ability to analyze andinterpret engineering documents, codes and standards, technical procedure

  • Ability to compose and writereports, business correspondence, and contextualize engineering deliverable

  • Ability to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, andcustomer

  • Ability to define problems,collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion

  • Ability to assist employees inunderstanding project objectives and specifications and see various points ofview

  • Strong judgement andprofessionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to key decision-makersat the executive level

  • Knowledge of contractingrequirements, codes, standards, and construction industry

  • Self-motivated, quick and assertive

  • Cool-Calm-Collected underpressure and in dynamic environment

  • Able to simultaneously addressproject details without losing the big-picture

  • Anticipates and communicatesproject risks and implements mitigation strategies
