Sasol North American Operations has an open position for a Research Chemist/Engineer at the Lake Charles Chemical Complex within the Research and Development Department's Process Research group. We are now seeking qualified candidates for the selection process. Below are some details of the requirements:
* Responsible for successfully executing research projects to achieve research objectives for senior researchers and key project teams * Leads 1 laboratory chemist in planning and executing experimental work supporting production unit * Maintains and improves test reactor system * Generates new ideas to identify unexplored key technology areas for developing intellectual property * Maintains an effective network with key stakeholders such as technical peers extending to all global sites and manufacturing unit personnel * Initiates and leads key projects dedicated to revenue and cost improvement of the business * Demonstrates competencies regarding key instrumentation and standard techniques commonly used in the laboratory
Experience and/or Education Requirements:
* Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering * Masters' Degree preferred * 4 to 10 years Industrial/ Research & Development experience required * Experience with laboratory high pressure equipment such as Parr reactors * Experience planning and executing lab activities/ organic reactions * Gas Chromatography experience preferred * High mechanical aptitude * Experience with plant operations * Ability to effectively solve problems and reach data based conclusions in multiple technical areas * Effective interpersonal skills to work with internal and external customers/vendors * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * VBA programming * Distributive control systems (DCS, Delta-V) * Aspen PIMS
