Saft is a world leader in thedesign and manufacturing of high-tech battery systems for industrialapplications; for use in space, aeronautics, telecom, transportation anddefense. we have an immediateopening for a Controls/Manufacturing Engineer for our Valdese, NC facility. Thisposition will support themanufacturing activities with assistance in the areas of product flow, tooling,and fixtures. Implement efficiencies and ergonomic improvements. Controls/Manufacturing Engineer will analyzeuser requirements, process design, and mechanical equipment design to createcontrols architecture for automated systems, in conjunction with the IndustrialControls Technicians. This position will work closely with engineers andtechnicians to define and perform experiments to develop process technologiesand solutions. Will collaboration with internal and external subject matterexperts.


  • Support the Maintenance/ICT department ontechnical issues to decrease downtime and increase production efficiencythrough timely maintenance.
  • Design and implement test plans to validatethat equipment meets functional requirements and prepare written reportssummarizing findings.
  • Perform safety analyses and complianceassessments via identification of key risks and issues in order to comply withapplicable standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance formanufacturing to ensure maximum through put, efficiency and quality
  • Assist in the development of new products inorder to ensure their ability to be manufactured efficiently and effectivelyusing the equipment specified.
  • Manage improvement projects to reduce costsand improve product quality
  • Assist in the development of product flows toimprove productivity
  • Coordinate with controls resources to ensurethat hardware, software, and the related documentation stay in sync viaappropriate change management tools and processes.
  • Work with design engineering to developrobust code that delivers desired functionality from equipment underdevelopment
  • Work with mechanical designers and controlstechnicians to resolve issues and guide best practices.
  • Performs all job duties within the SafetyPolicies and Procedures of Saft America, Inc.


EDUCATION: B.S. in Controls Engineering, Mechanical orElectrical Engineering from accredited institution

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years ofapplied professional experience in electrical process control, instrumentation,automation and computer and data communication systems in a manufacturingenvironment.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: Controls engineering, programming PLC's,manufacturing techniques, tooling, development of fixtures, demand flow and ergonomics.

BUSINESS UNDERSTANDING: Knowledge of the totalorganization and the domestic and international market as it relates toengineering areas
