Cell Culture Application Scientist IJob Description:Repligen has range of single-use cell retention systems that are continuously being refined and updated to meet market needs. We are seeking an experienced Research Application Scientist II within the research and development group focusing on upstream technologies for cell culture processes. The group is responsible for application research support for new product developments within Repligen.Primary Job Responsibilities:* Performing application-oriented cell culture experiments for new and existing Repligen products. Laboratory activities will include fed-batch and perfusion processes using mammalian cell lines and optimizing clarification methods.* Analyzing and trouble-shoot cell culture processes by monitoring cell growth, viability, protein productivity and other cell culture metabolites.* Proficient in developing protocols and reports for processes in shake flasks and stirred tank and single-use bioreactors using ATF/TFF and other perfusion systems.* Knowledgeable in protein quality and purification projects using chromatographic separation methods.* Designing experimental investigations, scale-up process, analyzing experimental data, new findings, and literature review, submitting technical reports, and giving presentations internally and at scientific conferences.* Designing and executing new application studies for market intelligence or to complement Repligen's product lines based on feedback from the intra and interdepartmental discussions.* Should be able to deliver scientific guidance and subject matter expertise for upstream processes.* Working with other departments including manufacturing, project management and sales to accomplish individual and company objectivesMinimum Requirements:* B.S Degree in chemical engineering, biochemistry, or applicable field with at least 3 years or MS with at least 1-2 years of industrial experience in a process or applications development setting.* Extensive understanding in biological process sciences, upstream process development including aseptic techniques, cell culture processes, and protein analytics* Experienced hands-on work setting up lab and pilot scale bioreactors, culturing cells and optimizing feeding and perfusion strategies.* Demonstrated experience in the design of experiments (DoE), strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand and to contribute with novel solutions.* The ability to work independently and in a team setting* Excellent oral and written communication abilities and strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external team members.Additional Qualifications:* Additional experience with gene therapy applications and viral vaccines would be a plus.* Experience with continuous bioprocessing desirable but not necessary* Previous experience with hollow fiber membranes, determining critical flux, shear and TMP measurements
