Job Description:Raytheon Company's Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Engineering Directorate uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.The Manufacturing Processes Section (MP Section) of the Materials Engineering Department directly supports manufacturing operations with technical expertise, laboratory capabilities and industrial and field experience. The Section participates in supporting operations both within Raytheon facilities and at subcontractor, supplier, field and customer locations.Analytical capabilities include metallography, scanning electron microscopy, chemical analysis, construction analysis, ultrasonic, radiography, eddy current and dye penetrant inspection.The MP Section is currently in need of an individual with technical expertise, experience and certification in non-destructive testing to support manufacturing and inspection of a wide variety of products. This position requires the technical oversight of NDT inspections and interpretations in order to verify thorough execution of all technical requirements. This position interacts and effectively communicates with direct labor personnel, engineers, managers, customer representatives and external suppliers.Timely execution of problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in support of internal and external requirements and schedules is an essential component of the position.This position can be a salary grade level of G07 or G08 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities required for the position.U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Required Skills:* 2+ years of related experience* Minimum NAS-410 Level 2 Certification in Radiographic Filmless Examination such as Real- Time Radiographic (RTR); Computed Tomography (CT ) Digital Radiography (DR); Digital Detector Array (DDA); or Computer Radiography (CR). With key strength working with Real Time Radiographic or Computed Tomography (CT) techniques/equipment.* U.S. Citizenship is requiredDesired Skills:* NAS-410 Level 2/ 3 Certification in Radiographic Film / Filmless Testing, Ultrasonic Contact / C SAM Testing,* NAS-410 Level 2 /3 Certification in Fluorescent / Visible dye Penetrant Testing, Magnetic particle Wet / Dry Testing, & Visual / Weld inspections is a plus.* Knowledge of NAS-410 , ASTM-E-1742 , ASTM-E-2033, ASTM-E-1255, ASTM-E-2698 , AMS-STD-2154 , ASTM-E-1417, ASTM-E-1444, JEDEC J-STD-035 & MIL STD 883 & 750* Experience in interpreting engineering drawings, ASTM, MIL STD & AWS specifications and other technical material and then translating into practical procedural instructions* Experience interpreting and developing NDT Technique sheets* Experience in establishing inspection procedures and techniques and flow down appropriate requirements to the shop floor personnel and external supplies for both NDT and visual weld inspections* Other Failure Analysis equipment (Digital / Optical Microscopes, Laser Milling, Die Shear/Bond Pull machine, Plasma Etching)* Knowledge of ESD protection* Must be self-motivated and possess excellent communication skills in an effective manner to all levels of personnel* Desire and ability to work as a team member is essential* Excellent documentation and technical writing skills (Office suite)Required Education (including Major):* Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Discipline or a related field or equivalent combination of related experience and education (each 2 years of related experience can substitute for 1 year of related education).What's YOUR Mission?Here at Raytheon, we work together as one global team creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place.
