Position Information

Patriot Erectors is currently seeking a Senior Construction Safety Manager with management experience fill the role of Assistant Safety Director (ASD). Applicants for the ASD position must have a minimum of 10 years experience on the job or in the field. In this role, the ASD will support the Safety Director by assisting in the management and development of the Project Safety Program.

He/she will advise and oversee safety managers who conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with crews and foremen to establish safety procedures prior to the crew s activity on site. The ASD should also be able to assist as needed in developing and conducting weekly safety meetings with the supervisor and crew, which includes document topics discussed as well as interface contractor s representatives relating to safety regulations to ensure proper compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring employees have the proper training requirements as per OSHA standards. If necessary, the ASD will facilitate training for site personnel to remain in compliance with Federal and site-specific standards.

The ASD will also support the Project Safety Program as needed in toolbox safety meetings and work area inspections utilizing the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions as required. He/she will also be responsible for recording, notifying and preparing written reports of any violations or unsafe practices to the supervisor for immediate corrective actions. Immediately upon identification, the ASD must stop any violation or unsafe practice and will assist the project supervisor in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation and fire control procedures. As a member of the Safety Department, the ASD will also participate in investigations of all incidents and review proper reports.

A two-year degree in Safety and Health or equivalent is preferred with at least 10 years of safety experience or a combination of education/multiple years of experience in building construction with a working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques. This position requires the ability to identify known/potential exposures and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

Knowledge of all aspects of steel erection preferred. Rigging, cranes, fall protection and equipment usage such as aerial lift and forklifts are all safety aspects within steel erection.

Additionally, as a ASD, he/she will support the Safety Director in leading a team of hardworking and dedicated professionals; one important focus will be assisting, mentoring, and supervising CSMs in the field. The ASD will be responsible for engaging the team to maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, performance and engagement are maintained. To achieve this, the ASD is expected to provide CSMs and other field employees with the tools needed for success. Key responsibilities include supporting all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment, acting as the primary information source for CSMs, maintaining compliance and consistency, and taking corrective action.
