Responsibilities
  • Assess condition of ride vehicles undergoing refurbishment and provide engineering support for repairs
  • Reverse engineer legacy equipment and backfill legacy documentation, when needed to design new repairs or changes
  • Follow established processes for making ride vehicle modifications to improve reliability and maintainability, including design, engineering, fabrication, installation, testing, and approvals from internal and external authorities
  • Work with Technicians to understand design issues and to ensure manufacturability of design changes and repairs
  • Work with vendors to ensure clarity of design requirements and proper manufacturing of components
  • Work with Quality group to ensure proper documentation, records and configuration management of engineering work
  • Perform engineering disposition for Quality Control inspection findings (incoming inspections and NDT of structures)
  • Produce scope of work for larger design projects and manage progress from design through installation
  • Provide formal and informal status updates on assigned tasks and projects, to all levels of management as required
  • Contribute to the definition and ongoing improvement of Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures and practices
  • Conduct failure analysis examinations and prepare root cause and corrective action reports
  • Create detailed drawings for parts/assemblies in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
  • Work autonomously in a fast-paced environment; perform all tasks with minimal supervision and direction
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum 7 years mechanical detailed design experience associated with structures or industrial machinery
  • Proficient background in design of welded structures and bolted connections, and design for manufacturing/fabrication
  • Proficient knowledge of common metals (steels, aluminum) and composites (fiberglass, etc.)
  • Proficient knowledge and logical approach to problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities of mechanical systems
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; able to learn new software quickly
  • Able to generate thorough and readable mechanical specifications, calculations/analyses, acceptance test procedures, hazard analyses, scopes of work, installation procedures, training, and other technical documentation
  • Knowledgeable in AWS, ANSI and ASTM standards
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team player with interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task and be flexible
  • Able and willing to work overtime and weekends with short notice
  • Desired Characteristics

  • Hands-on experience in fabrication (machining, welding) and assembly
  • Theme Park engineering knowledge and experience, knowledge of ASTM F24 standards
  • California Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Project engineering or project management experience with large mechanical systems
  • Experience in a union environment
