The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Prototype Maintenance and Availabilities team. Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited, to:

  • Install, remove, service, calibrate, construct, modify, repair, etc. all types of instruments, electronic devices, etc. to support continued plant and site operations.
  • Interact with equipment owners, contractors and engineering personnel as necessary to satisfactorily complete tasks, including ability to work from drawings/sketches.
  • Fluent skills computer operations and operations of portable logic computers.
  • Maintain all paperwork to support equipment history, tractability as required by applicable compliance standards.
  • Direct lower rated employees
  • Perform other related duties.
  • The position requires qualifying as a radiation worker (including catch, drape and glove bag evolutions and friskall monitor) and handling/disposal of chemicals produced/used during job performance.

    Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electronics instrumentation or equivalent degree; OR high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and a completed apprenticeship
  • Minimum of five years experience as an Instrument Mechanic.
  • Repair/Calibrate/Maintenance experience.
  • Job Preferred Skills

  • Ten years experience in calibration and repair of electronic/mechanical instruments?
  • Full radiation worker with catch/drape radcon qualification.
