National seeks a site safety officer to facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines at the jobsite level. DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supporting the development of OHS policies and programs. * Advising and instructing safety-related topics. * Conducting risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures. * Initiate and organize OHS training * Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues and problems * Oversee the safety aspect of site work, following the CFR as relates to demolition practices * Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy * Record and investigate incidents to determine causes related to workers compensation claims * Prepare reports on occurrences and provide information to upper management * Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management * Demonstrates National Salvage values * Driven for personal and company success * Delivers exemplary customer service internally and externally * Acts with integrity. * Proven experience as a safety officer; demolition experience preferred * Knowledge of OSHA/EPA legislation, procedures * Knowledge of potentially hazardous material, practices * Experience in writing reports, policies for health and safety * Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics * Proficient in MS Office, knowledge of safety management information * Outstanding organizational skills * Diligent with great attention to detail * Ability to interact with varied work crews * Excellent communication skills to present and explain health and safety topics * Certificate in occupational health and safety preferred * Minimum OSHA 30, higher qualification preferred * Travel is possible 90% of the time, this is a site based position
