Job Purpose

Responsibilities vary on your area of interest and department placement. We hire from a range of majors for our Gridtern program. See below for some examples:

Civil Engineering ? Structural Engineering

  • Perform substation design tasks encompassing functional layouts, material take offs, cost estimating, and bid document preparation for projects.
  • Design functions in alliance with National Grids structural plan, including removal and maintenance of the electric overhead transmission lines.
  • Manage prjects ranging from equipment damage failures, station rebuilds and expansion, to new Greenfield projects. Develop below/above grade structures to support electrical equipment to assure safe and reliable power for customers.
  • Past Departments Included: Property Services, Capital Projects, Contractor Oversight, Substation and Design

    Qualifications
  • Currently have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA (unless current first year student)
  • Have accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the United States for the entire duration of the internship
  • Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2020 Semester
  • Some intern positions will require a valid US Drivers license with a safe driving history. This qualification will be included in department specific intern position(s) during the next step of the selection process

    Our Massachusetts based internships may be in the following locations: Waltham, Brockton, South Yarmouth, Tewksbury, North Andover, or Braintree. Location information will be included in department specific intern position(s) during the next step of the selection process.
