MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a federally-funded research and development center chartered to develop advanced technology in support of national security. Research and development activities focus on long-term technology development as well as rapid system prototyping and demonstration. These efforts are aligned within key mission areas, including air and missile defense; space control; homeland protection and tactical systems; biological-chemical defense; cyber security; information sciences and technology; communication systems; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems and technology; and advanced electronics technology. The Laboratory works with government and industry to transition new concepts, technology and prototypes into future system development and deployment.

The objective of the Safety and Mission Assurance Office is to partner with program teams, Divisions, Groups, and Departments to collaboratively achieve mission success.

Job Description

The successful candidate will actively engage with program sponsors and participate in requirements, design, test reviews, supplier selection, and pre-ship reviews. Will perform training, safety and reliability analysis, hazard assessments, fault tree development, corrective action, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).

The position includes performing assessments, identifying and mitigating program risks, disseminate lessons learned, and analyze and partner with the teams to rectify system failures. You will be asked to engage with the team to help guide the process that is followed, interact with the sponsors Mission Assurance organization and assist in the prevention of failure throughout the prototype build.

  • BS with 3-5 years experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or MS with 1-2 years experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience with applying systems engineering tools and techniques
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
