Will initially be located full-time at the PSFC in Cambridge for up to a year. Once the high field side current drive system is deployed to DIII-D, will be located full-time in San Diego.
RF ENGINEERING SPECIALIST, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to provide support (design, analysis and operation) for physics projects aimed at PSFC's core mission of accelerating the development of fusion energy. The primary project to be supported is the high field side current drive project at the DIII-D National Fusion Facility in San Diego. Will be responsible for the RF transmitter and associated power supplies and control. The RF transmitters are based on 4.6 GHz klystrons and utilize PSM and advanced pulsed power supplies. Responsibilities include delivering detailed concepts and supporting these concepts with detailed modeling; participating in and leading design reviews; providing critical analysis and suggestions for overcoming design and operational challenges; identifying process deficiencies and developing solutions to improve those deficiencies; creating a work environment that is conducive to teamwork and strong professional development. Will be part of a team of physicists, engineers, and technicians.
This positions offers an opportunity to present results at technical conferences and to publish them in peer-reviewed journals.
