REQUIRED: bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in health physics, nuclear engineering or other EHS-related discipline; four years' relevant experience in radiation protection and EHS programs, and recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous materials and conditions and physical agents; knowledge of comprehensive radiological programs whose elements include radiological effluent programs, offsite dose calculation, environmental monitoring, radiological analysis, electronic dosimetry systems, waste management, radioactive material shipping, air sampling and analysis, radiation protection instrumentation calibration/maintenance/repair, training development, respiratory protection programs in a nuclear environment, and external/internal dosimetry programs; expert-level knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and consensus standards for the protection of property and life and occupational health and safety including NRC, CDC and NIH guidelines, OSHA, EPA, DOT, Massachusetts' DPH and DEP, Massachusetts' fire prevention regulations, and OSHA regulations; ability to develop and implement well-integrated EHS programs; and basic computer and database skills. Publications in peer-reviewed journals or invitations to participate in conferences or serve on federal/state advisory committees, knowledge of reactor environments and systems, and certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Health Physics desirable. Health physics experience at a reactor facility and working knowledge of radiation protection standards and recommendations also desirable. ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER, REACTOR RADIATION PROTECTION (RPP), Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), to serve in a leadership role and provide expert radiation protection advice to support Institute academic and business objectives. Will assist the assistant director with managing the Reactor Radiation Protection Program; function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary EHS office; and provide advice on research and operations, building projects, and experiments relative to their safety concerns.
