Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a Project Engineering Manager for our either Secaucus, NJ. or Kingston, NY. office.

The Project Engineering Manager (PEM) plans, monitors, and manages internal projects from initiation through technical delivery. The PEM is fully responsible for ensuring the final engineering solution is reviewed and approved during the project lifecycle, and incorporates installation design, operation and maintenance considerations. The PEM provides guidance to staff ensuring deliver and engineering practices through continuous improvement and innovation of processes and practices.

The Project Engineering Manager will:

  • Provide consulting to the various teams
  • Ensure all technical specifications are met to provide high quality deliverables
  • Identify potential issues and risks as well as technical and non-technical mitigation strategies.
  • Provide leadership and foster collaboration among all departments within the company and encourage innovation and creativity within the engineering teams
  • Work with and manage subcontractors
  • On behalf of the Project Manager, assign and supervise specific tasks within project teams in a manner to allow for efficient completion
  • Continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the work team
  • Seek out customer wants and needs, interprets the wants and needs, and translates them into specific gaps in requirements or change in scope, documented and provided to the Project Management
  • Define and manage overall engineering schedules and milestones and recommend best practices for engineering methodology and processes
  • Manage and justify projects to improve engineering performance, quality, manufacturability, efficiency and margin
  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years supervisory experience with a minimum of 15 years overall industry experience in a similar environment. Relevant experience would include systems engineering and technical delivery of design / build projects. BS in Engineering or in a technical field is required.

    Candidates should be proficient in MS Project and/or Smartsheet, MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook and have excellent organization skills.

    Travel in this role is anticipated to be around 25%.

    The Kapsch portfolio of Advanced Traffic Management (ATM) services includes over 40 systems that integrate ATMS, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and automation for collecting real-time traffic and facilities-related data from highways, managed lanes, bridges, and tunnels. This information is delivered to a traffic management center where it is processed for actionable use by road operators, government authorities, and road users.

    Our tolling solutions span all-electronic toll collection in free-flow traffic, automated payment at conventional toll plazas, and city tolling. Our solutions comprise radio communication via micro waves, vehicle tracking via GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems), ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) video tolling, and vehicle classification via video and laser sensors LVDC (Laser Vehicle Detection and Classification). Our systems can manage operations for areas ranging from individual roads to entire regions, and can be modified for distance-based or time-based charging.

    Our combined intelligent mobility solutions are used to aid traffic management personnel in making critical decisions during emergency response situations, as well as for providing real-time traffic information to road users from the highway to the city.
