JMT is currently ranked #54 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms. JMT is seeking a Drainage Engineer to join JMT's Water Resources Department in our Lake Mary, Tampa or Ft. Lauderdale, Florida office. The Drainage Engineer will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments. The Drainage Engineer will be expected to work on projects in multiple states from their home office. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities** + Design and develop computations for storm drains, erosion and sediment control, and traditional and innovative green stormwater management infrastructure + Perform alternative studies + Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects + Perform design computations + Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools + Develop construction cost estimates + Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction + Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality **Required Skills** + Understanding of basic stormwater and drainage concepts + Microstation and/or AutoCAD drafting experience + Strong oral and written communication skills for preparation of project reports + Ability to build client relationships + Candidates must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment **Required Experience** + Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program + Professional Engineer License required + 4-6 years of experience in drainage/water resources engineering + Experience in FDOT drainage design for FDOT transportation projects. + Experience with permitting agencies (SJRWMD, SWFWMD and SFWMD) + Familiar with FDOT Design Standards and FDOT Drainage Manual + Experience with ASAD, GEOPAK Drainage, ICPR, HEC-RAS. FDOT drainage design, stormwater management design, and erosion and sediment control design preferred **Working Conditions** Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
