Design, specify, and implement materials processes for a wide range of material fabricated products. In addition, improve and develop manufacturing tooling and techniques required to make these products. Both efforts will be directed toward reducing manufacturing costs, and precious metal working margins, while improving internal and external product quality.

Technical responsibility for several product types and manufacturing cost centers as assigned by the Operations team. Products may range from standard items manufactured in continuous stream, to one-piece, one-time only orders.

Responsible for engineering support in annual billings and will impact profitability on those billings through process definition, leading engineering cost reduction and quality programs.

Incumbent will interface with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Scheduling on a daily basis. Work with Marketing and consult with customers and vendors as required by product responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop material and processing parameters to achieve desired end-product properties and attributes based upon end customer specifications.
  • Reviews incoming specifications and drawings for new products working closely with operations, engineering, and sales to ensure specifications can be met.
  • Drive data-based product capability assessments and process improvements.
  • Provide metallurgical expertise in the development of new or existing products.?
  • Lead and facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action teams
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts as identified by analyzing?quality-related performance statistics
  • Responsible for creating material test reports and publishing to internal and external customers
  • Project management in leading capital expenditures related to new and upgraded equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting production equipment as needed
  • Design and order tooling required to efficiently manufacture product that meets all customer specifications.
  • Debug new equipment by bringing it up to full capacity on production jobs

  • Are you the ideal candidate?

  • BS degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering or related field.
  • 5-7 years? experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of metal forming processes associated with manufacture of tube, wire and sheet product a plus.
  • Familiarity with precious metals, and/or the application of products for use in the medical field a plus.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, and Continuous Improvement required.
