Responsibilities

Perform detailed, complex engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles & other viable approaches. Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services.

Duties: Solves complex and unique SCADA engineering/ Operational Technology (OT) problems. Utilizes a broad prospective to investigate and identify innovative solutions. Contributes to the development & execution of Departmental or Divisional strategy. Recognized engineering expert for equipment of extreme importance to AVANGRID and/or the industry. Anticipates business issues & recommend process improvements

Duties: Recognized expert for equipment of extreme importance to AVANGRID (e.g. Automation, SCADA, PI Historian, RTU's & relays). Interpret business issues and recommend best practices and/or process improvements. Participate in Industry associations. Lead teams, mentor & review engineering work of others. Anticipates & make recommendations with respect to customer & stakeholder needs. Explains difficult concepts & influences others. May be required to make presentations to regulatory/public entities.

Duties: Lead SCADA Engineering teams to complete assigned tasks and projects. Experienced mentor to engineers in SCADA engineering development. Manages and provides direction for resources outside of the department. Leads others to specify & design systems to resolve complex problems in non-std situations & develop creative solutions. Independently apply design stds., industry codes, design criteria, guidelines & AVANGRID polices/procedures

Duties: Possesses an in depth knowledge and interprets processes and standards related to SCADA engineering. Recommends solutions and best practices where appropriate. Represents SCADA on projects, task forces and studies. Develop business cases & manage projects/processes/initiatives or teams in accordance with applicable UI guidelines. Coordinate phases of engineering for assigned portions of a project/program.

Duties: Forecast, plan, schedule, monitor, control budget/estimates, construction plans & material orders. Participate in the management of resource allocation (e.g. Test Dept., IT, P&C, Substation Dept.) to insure adequate resources are available. Possess a depth and breath of experience in SCADA engineering and knowledge of internal/external business and regulatory issues. Maintains knowledge of leading edge techniques or technology through participation in professional associations. Able to explain difficult concepts and influence others to change. Able to communicate orally or in writing to regulatory and/or public entities. Able to lead a Team or mentor others.

Experienced SCADA related subject matter preferred,(Experience/Knowledge of):

  • Communication Protocols: TCP/IP; DNP3; IEC61850, Mod Bus; Multi-speak
  • Programming Languages: C++ , Linux Scripting, SPL
  • SCADA System Platform: ABB Ventyx -Network Manager
  • Computer Platforms: Windows, Linux/ Unix, Windows Server
  • Database Management: Oracle, SQL Server, Avanti, PI Historian
  • Data Historians: UDW, PI Historian
  • NERC-CIP and other related NERC Reliability Standards
