Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Trenchless Geotechnical Engineer will report to the Trenchless Engineering Manager, having primary responsibilities revolving around the planning, managing and orchestrating of geologic and geotechnical initiatives associated with trenchless technologies: engineering, design and construction applications.

The Senior Trenchless Geotechnical Engineer will contribute to the Trenchless Program by: utilizing experience and expertise to apply geologic information to engineering and design practices, including hydraulic fracture and inadvertent returns analyses; coordinating and executing front end information collection initiatives, such as geotechnical investigation programs for incorporation into critical engineering and design decisions and constructability evaluations; interpreting geological information to evaluate subsurface conditions for feasibility of design and construction; and addressing problematic subsurface conditions to provide recommendations for mitigation as needed throughout the lifecycle of trenchless projects (planning through construction). Data management, quality control of geological data, planning, resource forecasting, cost estimating, scheduling and risk management for all geological and geotechnical initiatives are also included in the primary responsibilities.

Field based responsibilities will primarily include site reconnaissance, oversight of geotechnical field investigations and oversight of trenchless pipeline installations.

While in the field, the Senior Trenchless Geotechnical Engineer will monitor and report on daily activities, run various geological field tests, interpret lab test results for soil and rock samples, provide maintenance of field test equipment, and present field data in a timely manner with a high level of quality. Also included as part of field based responsibilities is on site support to Trenchless Construction Manager for trenchless construction operations.


Required Qualifications

? Four-year degree with a concentration in Engineering or other related field required.
? 8 years of extensive experience in Geology and/or Geotechnical Engineering.
? PE/PG Credentials preferred.
? Knowledge and experience in trenchless technologies (HDD, Tunneling, Direct Pipe, etc.) with an understanding of relevant equipment and methodology.
? Evidence in understanding of hydraulic fracture and inadvertent returns analyses methods and results.
? Experience in logging soil and rock samples and performing relevant field tests for preliminary material classifications.
? Knowledge and thorough understanding of ASTM Standards for geotechnical concepts, and subsurface material classification based on various testing methods.
? Knowledge and thorough understanding of various methods and technologies for use in interpreting and evaluating subsurface conditions, including laboratory testing techniques.
? Strong interpersonal, customer service and writing skills.
? Team oriented with the ability to be a good leader.
? Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
? Experience in ArcGIS.
? Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
? Experience in gINT or equivalent.
? Travel is required.
