ResponsibilitiesHDR is looking for a highly motivated individual to grow the highway and local road practice in Wisconsin. The primary duty of the Wisconsin Roadway Manager is to manager our roadway design staff in their work on projects for the DOT’s and Local Public Agencies in the state of Wisconsin. Additionally, this position will build relationships with clients, develop pursuits, attract staff and work on project delivery in a production role. The Wisconsin Roadway Manager will continue to work as a Senior Project Manager capable of pursuing and delivering complex transportation projects for DOT and Local Public Agency clients. Familiar with WISDOT is important as well as relationships with cities and counties in the area. Project involvement will range from leading feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase. Experience should include urban and rural municipal/local projects, DOT projects, traffic management, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans. Highway and interchange design experience are a key requirement for this position. Coordination of multi-discipline project inclusive of survey, grading, drainage, structures, and utilities and layout of various site items is a requirement. Experience with supervising work of a medium to large staff of professional and technicians is required. Project Management, quality assurance/control checks, and technical review experience are required. Marketing and project pursuit experience are a key requirement of this position. The position would also involve preparation and negotiation of proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules. It would also include day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with sub-consultants, and keep projects on schedule and within budget. *LI-BC1
15+ years of experience in highway/streets geometric design
Marketing and project pursuit experience
Experience with DOT and municipal clients in Wisconsin
Experienced in managing and delivering DOT/municipal/local projects in the Madison Area required
Experience with supervising work of a project team as a Project Manager
Experience with mentoring of junior staff a requirement
MS Office knowledge
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Project Management experience with understanding of Earned Value desirable
Prefer candidates with previous work experience with an A/E/C Engineering firm
Preference given to local candidates
