**Job Description:**

The selected applicant will be responsible for the design and development of digital and power supply designs for Harris radio products. Initially, the applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team transitioning the STC manpack radio into full volume production.

+ Performs significant engineering digital design and power supply design tasks, detailed experimental testing, design simulation, operational test and fault isolation on Harris radio products.

+ Evaluates results to assist in development and problem resolution.

+ Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or circuitry for Harris radio products in the areas of design tasks. Determines design approaches and parameters.

+ Analyzes electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Determines selection of components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.

+ Performs electrical debug/troubleshooting to determine cause of problems in radio equipment.

+ Documents designs and test results. Provides detailed test reports.

+ Updates and maintains Engineering documentation includes schematic capture of designs

+ Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve highly complex technical issues with radio products experienced by customers.

+ Develops new design concepts, techniques, and standards.

+ Assists with guiding highly complex and advanced projects to completion.

+ Perform occasional production troubleshoot and training technicians on product and debug methods

+ Determine product and process improvements to improve product quality and cost

+ Provides mentoring of less experienced engineers

+ Provides technical presentations on projects (Design Reviews, etc.)

+ Provides estimates on development costs.

+ Ability to attain a US DoD Security Clearance up to SECRET level.


+ Engineering Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or an Engineering Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

**Preferred Additional Skills:**

+ Experience with the design and simulation of high-power density switching converter topologies including Buck, Boost, and isolated DC/DC topologies.

+ Experience with magnetic component selection, filter design, and feedback control loop design

+ Work with cross-functional teams to meet manufacturability, testability and other DFx requirements for volume production

+ Self-motivated individual with the ability to work and communicate effectively within a development group.

+ Excellent troubleshooting skills, well organized, detail oriented

+ Adaptable

+ Experience with PSPICE, LTSPICE, MathCAD, MATLAB, DxDesigner, PADS viewer tools preferred.

+ Proficient in the use of test equipment including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, electronic load modules, Network Analyzers, etc.

+ Knowledge of system level grounding approaches and designing for EMI/EMC compliance, prior experience with design for MIL-STD 461/464 compliance a plus.

+ Prior experience with signal integrity/power integrity tools (e.g. Hyperlynx PI/SI) a plus

+ Prior experience with design for MIL-STD 810G compliance a plus

+ Familiarity with MIL-STD-1275 (characteristics of 28V DC Electrical Systems in military vehicles) a plus

+ Prior experience with radios and communication systems a plus
