We are seeking a candidate with strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex test equipment. You must be able to understand the interfacing of data collection systems and associated software (ex. LabView, Matlab, etc.) to complex test equipment. Candidate must be detail oriented with a solid understanding of material properties, and ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.
The preferred candidate will:
+ Provide support for day-to-day operation of the lab under guidance of other technicians
+ Work with engineering to understand testing needs/scheduling and work with the group lead to plan for resources so that schedules can be met.
+ Work with outside suppliers for the repair and maintenance of laboratory equipment
+ Design experiments and equipment for customized testing
+ Possess a solid understanding of composite materials and properties, including the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE), Coefficient of Moisture Expansion (CME), Fiber Volume and its relationship to both CTE and CME, and mechanical properties (tensile, shear, and compression).
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex test equipment.
+ Ability to understand the interfacing of complex test equipment to data collection systems and associated software (LabView, MatLab, and internally developed software).
+ Ensure the quality of the results produced by the lab.
+ Understanding and a proficiency with all aspects of the operation of the equipment in the laboratory.
+ Interface with other internal labs or external testing facilities
+ Create new and edit existing process documentation for testing
+ Maintain relationships with key suppliers.
+ Identify inefficiencies and drive future improvements in the lab
+ Associates Degree in Engineering Science, Chemistry, or Materials Science with 4+ years of relevant experience.
