Summary of Position
As a 3D Printing Technician, you will print parts for customers and internal uses using Fortify s Digital Composite Manufacturing (DCM) process. The 3D Printing Technician will work closely with Process and Applications Engineers to balance procurement for internal validation and customer order fulfillment. You will regularly use Fortify s printers to procure parts and identify system failure modes and improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities 3D print parts for mechanical testing and customer order fulfillment Support the execution of DOEs (Design of Experiments) to validate material performance Influence decisions about processing requirements for Fortify s printers Identify system failure modes and improvements for the printer design team Assist with general printer maintenance Test samples to characterize material properties
Candidate Prerequisites Exposure to 3D printing, machining, injection molding, and other manufacturing methods Self-motivated individual with strong attention to detail, creativity and sharp problem-solving skills Hands-on experience working in a lab environment Understanding of fundamental material science concepts Ability to discern key variables to the performance of a system involving dozens of influential factors B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science, OR >3 years of experience in a lab technician role
Preferred additional skills CAD experience Data analysis in Matlab or Python DFM for 3D printing
