In this position, you will be responsible for planning methods and techniques to extract from both onshore and offshore reserves and for designing the drill equipment. You will make recommendations of drilling efforts based on cost, effort, and feasibility when compared with returns. A Bachelor's in engineering and a high attention to detail is preferred.

Your day to day will include:

  • Making sure that wells, well testing, and well surveys are completed and evaluated
    • Designing equipment to extract oil and gas in the most profitable way
    • Developing plans to drill and then recover oil and gas
    • Developing ways to inject water, chemicals, gases, or steam into an oil reserve to force out more of the oil
    • Use computer-controlled drilling or fracturing to connect a larger area of an oil and gas deposit to a single well
    • Make sure that oil field equipment is installed, operated, and maintained properly
