As a member of the hardware engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for supporting product verification test activities on electrical and mechanical medical device components. Verification test expertise will be applied to all levels of product development from prototypes to system level. This will include developing and validating test methods and creating associated documentation. The Test Engineer will interface and support different groups including research and development, quality, and manufacturing.Responsibilities Include:
Develop and execute verification test protocols, test cases and reports for requirement verification.
Drive quality into product development through analysis, test and timely feedback of test results to the team.
Design test cases to include test methodology, test setups, materials, equipment, test procedure, and requirement acceptance criteria.
Functional testing of mechanical assemblies and PCBAs.
Document, manage and maintain test records consistent with formal verification processes and Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Participate in cross-functional team meetings and design reviews.
Create and validate test fixtures and test systems needed for product design verification.
Review and analyze requirements as part of test protocol development.
Support hardware team in product development, concept feasibility and change activities by collecting and providing test data.
Communicate with third-party test vendors.
With guidance perform failure mode analysis and root cause investigations and contribute to developing solutions.
Review, understand and characterize electrical and mechanical designs in order to develop test methods and ensure coverage of requirements.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 1 to 3 years experience in test engineering, medical field preferred.
Problem solving experience - can leverage own expertise and input from others to identify and resolve critical issues. Understanding of root cause analysis methods.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
Ability to read, understand and analyze electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
Experience using electrical and mechanical lab equipment such as an oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, force gauge and caliper.
Takes a hands-on approach to testing, fault diagnosis and isolation.
Proficiency with MS Office and other office productivity tools.
Clear and effective communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
Experience creating detailed, clear and complete documentation and records. Experience with a Quality Management System preferred.
Good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with others across disciplines collaboratively.
Comfortable and effective in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties.
Self-starter that takes ownership of their work, has initiative and drive to accomplish team and department goals and objectives.
