Boston Metal is commercializing cutting edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize primary metals production by improving metal quality while decreasing cost and lowering environmental impact. This fast-paced startup company is looking for a Process Engineering Lead to head development of balance of plant and operations processes for new Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) deployment. MOE is a new extractive metallurgy technology that has aspects of both aluminum smelting as well as traditional pyrometallurgical processes.. Duties will include leading a small team of engineers that are focused on the design and commissioning of balance of plant systems required to support production of molten metal in new MOE cells. This person will be a technical contributor as well as holding responsibilities for program development tasks, priorities and schedule. Additional duties will be interfacing with industrial partners (such as EPCs) in preparation for production plants.. Required experience and skills:. 5+ years working in metallurgical plants or designing metallurgical processes and support systems. Relevant industries include aluminum smelting, steel production or recycling, as well as other similar high temperature tonnage production and furnace centric industries. BS Degree (or MS) from accredited university or college in one or more of the following areas: Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science or Process Engineering.. Desired Skills & Experience:. Molten metal experience - Tapping and/or casting. Air Pollution Control Systems. Bulk Materials processing/handling. High direct current electrical supply & distribution - DC rectifiers and electrical buswork. Computer Aided Design (CAD) - Solidworks preferred. Process Engineering - Metallurgical Industry preferred. Experience with high-temperature processes >1000degC. Experience working in small teams & start-up atmosphere. Additional Information:. You will be working in a small team environment where team work and good relationships with other team members is critical.
