The Google AI Impact Challenge was an open call to nonprofits, social enterprises, and research institutions from around the world to submit their ideas to use AI to help address societal challenges. Over 2,600 organizations applied.. Overview of the Role. The Head of Engineering will contribute to The Trevor Project's life-saving work by scaling its technology products and services to serve 1.5M+ LGBTQ youth across multiple voice and text channels. They will also oversee implementation and customization of services that are critical to the organization's core operations, such as fundraising, people, finance, legal, and more. The successful candidate will accomplish this by leading and mentoring an agile team of developers, machine learning engineers, and Salesforce administrators, and building a coalition of volunteers and corporate partners to significantly increase engineering capacity.. Lead an agile team of developers, machine learning engineers, and Salesforce administrators. Collaborate with the product team to estimate work effort and allocate engineering resources, enabling multiple simultaneous sprints across our product portfolio. Leverage AI and data science to scale the platform and improve quality of care to LGBTQ youth in crisis. Develop plans for all phases of the development lifecycle including specification, design, development, quality assurance, and implementation. Build, implement and maintain products and services that support the organization's day-to-day operations. Partner with teams across the organization to scale our internal and external services to serve 1.5M+ LGBTQ youth. Implement quality assurance and deployment processes that result in maximum uptime and reliability. Manage customer service issues resulting from platform issues specifically. Build and inspire a coalition of volunteers and corporate partners to surge engineering capacity on high-impact projects and initiatives. Integrate The Trevor Project's life-saving voice and chat services with new and emerging communication platforms.
