Antcom, a wholly owned subsidiary of NovAtel and part of the Hexagon Group, excels at designing, developing and manufacturing antenna products for a variety of industries including aerospace, defense, survey and agriculture industries.
We are currently searching for a Senior Antenna Engineer to design, develop, and test antenna products. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work on rugged Global Positioning System (GPS) antennas, anti-jam navigation antennas, and communication antennas for harsh environmental conditions. Our quick-turn development environment allows us to see products through from concept to delivery. The Senior Antenna Engineer will be the design prime for new antenna development projects, leading the development of new architectures to meet customer requirements. In this role, you will have great variety in your day-to-day activities and high influence within the company.
Responsibilities Design, develop, and test antenna products with emphasis in the following areas:New product development for navigation & communications antennasAntenna element architecture research and designCRPA and antenna array design Work directly with the Chief Engineer and other key staff to brainstorm and define next generation products. Serve as project manager for new product development and sustaining engineering projects. Diagnose malfunctions in existing products and make improvements or modifications to increase product reliability. Lead root cause analysis investigations and document corrective actions. Support Sales and Marketing with RFQ technical assistance and customer support. Perform technical writing which may include proposals, reports, test procedures, and specifications. Assist in the planning, testing, and documentation of product performance against regulatory requirements such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-228, DO-301, and DO-160. Define acceptance test procedures and implement efficient test solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members by providing the necessary technical guidance, training suggestions, and hands-on assistance.
Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; MSEE preferred A minimum of 8 years of related experience in the aerospace, electronics or defense industries Experience leading engineering projects Experience with 3D RF simulation software (HFSS, CST, FEKO, or similar) Experience designing antenna products for aerospace, defense, or other harsh environments Experience designing antennas with polarization requirements Experience working with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other RF test equipment Extensive experience testing antenna radiation patterns Deep understanding of antenna design for production and real-world environments Applicants for select positions that require access to information controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) must be US Persons per ITAR §120.15 and EAR §772.1 (i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or admitted to the U.S. as an asylee or refugee), or be otherwise eligible to obtain required authorization from the U.S. Government to access controlled information. Nice-to-Have: Experience designing and measuring low noise amplifiers Experience with 2D RF simulation software (ADS, Designer, or similar) and PCB layout tools Experience designing GPS/GNSS antennas Experience designing blade antennas Knowledge of robustness standards (MIL-STD-810G, DO-160G) Practical understanding of FAA certification process
