Vehicle Systems Integration Engineer
The Vehicle Systems Integration Engineer is a role vital to client s growth and future product development. This individual will interpret customer requirements, conduct complex systems trades, develop vehicle level designs, conduct bus level system integration, and ensure design adherence and compliance to federal and state safety regulations as well as industry standard specifications. This position reports to the Chief Engineer of Vehicle Systems Integration.
Clearly define vehicle level requirements for new bus models (including design-to-order) and cascade these to system level requirements and establish the DV plan to confirm conformance to the requirements
Support the vehicle configuration confirmation process to confirm that the technical solutions being planned for new models (including design-to-order models) are robust and fulfill all requirements
Drive the process of defining and completing all DFMEA s required to confirm technical risks and feasibility for new component and system level specifications
Organize and schedule structured design reviews to confirm progress in the packaging and integration of new systems and components into the vehicle
Work with Design Engineering COE s to confirm component and system level design specifications are always robust and compatible with vehicle level requirements at various engineering gateways through virtual simulation and/or physical assessment
Conduct competitor benchmarking and monitor/document industry trends
Research new system level technologies that may be required to fulfill future market requirements and establish technology road maps for developing and integrating these technologies into current and future bus models
Support Product Planning to develop and refine technology road maps, perform benchmarking activities to assess competitive positions and establish the business case for new model development programs
Originate specifications, control documents, procedures, reports, engineering standards and/or other documentation in support of design and development activities
Represent client within various professional societies (SAE, IEEE, etc.) and industry-based organizations (APTA, NEC, NFPA, etc.) in order to drive new requirements and processes defined and managed by these organizations in an effort to keep client at the forefront of technology and to be able to share insights to the product development related functions within the company as new requirements and standards are developed and initiated
Demonstrated technical and leadership responsibility in automotive, on/off highway or transportation equipment
Demonstrated experience with ICE, electrified powertrains, battery technology, collision avoidance, autonomous vehicle technology, IoT, vehicle electronics architecture, communications protocols, CAN bus design, telematics, diagnostics, schematic design, debugging, root cause analysis, testing/validation
Relevant experience defining and successfully integrating DC power circuits and related systems in an automotive product development environment
10+ years of progressive product engineering experience in an OEM environment
Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking, collects and researches data, uses intuition and experience to complement data. Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a matrixed, fast paced, high growth and changing environment
Experience in developing systems requirements, validation and verification strategies, and verification planning as well as facilitating the successful completion of verification compliance activities.
Strong foundation in systems design and management, product design and development, engineering systems analysis for design and manufacturing
Exceptional analytical skills developing systems performance models
Strong oral and written communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized documentation practices
