The Resident Engineer will interface with the OEM customer on-site at the customer location during the criteria, design and launch phases of a program to ensure customer requirements are met by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides engineering knowledge on support of Alpine’s OEM business by participating in test drives. This may include being the driver or at times the passenger. Test drives will be required post program launch.
Assist w/quotations as needed.
Travel to production plants as well as travel to plants located in other states or countries in order to assess manufacturing process effect on product performance. Travel will be as required per customer request or to investigate program issues.
Understand and interpret circuit block diagrams and vehicle electrical architecture.
Use CANoe tools as needed to measure, take log files and root cause issues on products as customers deems necessary.
Communicates with Alpine-DT Team to facilitate customer requests and concerns.
Functions as a liaison between customer and the Alpine office by supporting assigned program(s).
Must know the GM or Chrysler systems: GPDS / EBOM part number release systems including VPPS structure. How to track and take appropriate actions with CR/DNs or Notice of Actions. Understanding of RPOs / vehicle production options. Write and process EWOs/CNs. Initiate and track PTRs/PERs.
Must have the ability to retrieve GM Embassy report for pre-production orders and provide that information to the Program Manager.
Support and contribute toward Alpine's efforts to be innovative and secure technology rights through the patent process.
Patent Support - Create and Submit at least one idea per fiscal year.
Ensure punctual attendance per defined work schedule and compiles with attendance policy for time keeping, break periods and overtime as applicable.
This position will drive for company business. (Include as bullet only if this is an essential duty for the position)

May be required to reside on-site at the customer location per requirements of program contract.
Use oscilloscope to root cause issues.

Education and Experience:
Entry level requires BSEE and two years job related experience or three years advance technical training; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Preference for experience supporting infotainment and radio products.
Knowledge, Skills, AND/OR abilities:
The ability to understand technical specifications and schematics is required. Strong troubleshooting skills are required to be able to identify and reproduce problems. Ability to write test specifications and generate test reports is required.
A valid U.S. driver’s license and auto insurance are required during employment in this position.
