We are seeking an high caliber Senior Manufacturing Engineer that acts as the subject matter expert for the process engineering team and sees products transition from development into full production. Develops various manufacturing processes and implements those into production through validation by working closely with research/development and quality teams.

Impact this role will have on Abbott:
Establishes processes based on product specifications.
Evaluates process and design alternatives based on design for manufacturability principles.
Understands principles of Cost of Goods Sold .
Manages program compliance with Quality Control requirements (i.e. Design Control, Process validation etc.).
Understands IP issues relative to processes being developed.
Maintains knowledge of new developments in manufacturing and design technologies.
Understands work environment issues (i.e. OSHA regulations, etc.).
Supports all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott s marketplace success:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mfg/Industrial/Process Engineering or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred
5 plus years manufacturing experience
Experience developing manufacturing processes (including process FMEAs), and technologies (such as injection molding, precision machining, laser welding, ultrasonic welding, epoxy and silicone potting, cable extrusion, etc) and designing for manufacturability required
Experience with supplier development, management and qualification
Experience with equipment and process validations IQ/OQ/PQ/PPQ
Experience with CAPAs and root cause investigations a plus
Experience designing and testing implantable medical devices a plus
Experience with Solidworks CAD system, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis a plus
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
