Primary Job Function

Provides technical assistance to Engineering to support manufacturing efforts by implementing corrective and preventative actions. Assists Engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve manufacturing processes. Provides an independent, unbiased evaluation of materials or the work of others. The results of the Technician s evaluation is documented and communicated to organizational stakeholders with an interest in the evaluation's outcome - typically, this Supplier Development and/ or Manufacturing. The Technician s approval certifies the work or materials meets the division s quality system requirements.


Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

1. Audits materials or the work of others through the examination, inspection, measurement, or test of raw materials, components, sub assemblies, final assemblies and documentation

2. Assists Engineering in providing manufacturing support by training operators on processes and engineering changes, and performing operator certification on-the-job training and testing.

3. Documents the non-conformance or suspected nonconformance to standards (i.e. manufacturing documentation, material/ component specifications, operating procedures, and domestic/ international standards) through the identification of unsuccessful audits, the completion of required paperwork, system transactions, and affixing his or her mark (i.e. stamp, sign-off or signature).

4. Develops knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures

5. Learns process improvement techniques by assisting Engineering in researching and validating changes in processes/equipment and test methods to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time per established procedures

6. Learns traceability and inspection requirements; Learns statistical process control criteria; Learns how to develop manufacturing instructions and create training sheets and certifications. May also train operators on basic processes and engineering changes, and perform operator certification on-the-job training and testing is this a repeat of number 2 above

7. Trains new, entry level, and less experienced Technicians through on-the job training, group training, and one-on-one guidance.

8. Assists Engineers in collecting, compiling, measuring, organizing and recording data, and by writing procedures. May keep lab notebook.

9. Issues, stores, counts and maintains inventory into the different storage areas. Handles, disposes, transfers and document appropriately hazardous waste. Perform environmental monitoring as needed by site.

Minimum Education:

H.S. diploma or equivalent plus 0-2 years of related work experience or equivalent combination. Two-year degree or some college credits preferred.
